    Lee 150 FN?

I picked up a Winchester 94 trapper saddle ring carbine in 30/30 the only mold I have is a Lee 150 FN I shot one deer with it a couple years ago the bollit not the rifle. And being the barrel is 4" shorter would this still be a good round for deer and hog or would I need to move up to the 180gr mold?

I think 75% of this is bullet placement, the other 25% is bullet style and weight.

I have had good luck with the 170 FN in my 94 ,don't known if 20 grains would make any difference .

150 gr and 170 gr bullets have been the main stay for the 30-30
    for along,long time
I have used both weights in jackets for years personally and this year
I am going to use a 150 gr boolit from MP Molds
I have faith in the weight ,alloy and design but most of all it goes where I aim

I use a Lee 150gr FN myself but havn't shot anything with it yet, at the ranges you would use the 30-30 the 150gr is just fine unless you're in the kind of area where there are things that might also be hunting you....

I use the rcbs 30-150 in my 94's
I also have the 311041 and have never felt any need to use it on anything other than paper.

    yep.
seriously I use it in just about everything and have used it on everything from ground squirrels on up to deer.
now winding it up to full 30-30 velocity's and shooting grouse in the body isn't the best idea if you plan on eating them,,,,,,,,,,, but it is entertaining. [crow's even more so]
but the 30-06's like it and the 30-30's like it.
I haven't got around to using it in the 308 but the 165-A for the 308 drew heavily on it's design.
it's easy to make and easy to size and it just shoots well.
I'm sure i could beat it at the target game by going to the 165 silh. and picking and poking at the load.
but throwing some 2400 or whatever in the 0-6/30-30/30-40 case and shooting groups pretty commensurate with the rifles capability's is hard to argue with.
if I had to pick it or the 311041 the 041 would be gone in a heartbeat. [so would the 466]
if I had to keep just one 30 cal mold it would be a tough decision between it and the 165-A I have for the 308 but the 150 would win for sure cause it's lever gun friendly too.

it's easily in my top 5 favorite molds to work with.
