I stripped mine completely. The manufacturer says primer isn't necessary, so not sure if I'll pass on it or not. Still trying to find a can in my area. Phone dialing finger about to fall off............at least we only have to punch and not cause blisters with a rotary phone dial!!!!!

Well, groundsclown, I took your advice..........but only after calling every place I could think of that sells Rustoleum paint. Turns out the Dark Green Hammered Rustoleum spray paint has been discontinued and the only place to buy it is online from people (scalpers) who have more than doubled the normal price of $8.50 a can. I went ahead and purchased two on Amazon so I'd never be without. So at least I've got some on it's way. Thanks for all the help.

Go to about any store that has spray cans of paint, especially farm equipment stores, and ask for `John Deere Green` paint.Rpbert

To match that neat Silver-vein Green pictured on the LAM II, that and any other "Vein" textured like finish is done powder coating. I am a big fan of the way it looks but you need a powder coating gun and the right powder to get it. The "Hammered" finish is nice but not quite the same thing. Wrinkle finishes look good too and those are available from aerosol cans.

I'll be completely satisfied if my press ends up looking like groundsclown's vise. That's good enough for me. I've nothing else in my reloading stuff that's green, so no-one will be able to compare. Heck, even my RCBS Cowboy dies came in brown plastic boxes!

If you like the Hammered finish just pick a neutral color and go for it.

I've already placed two cans of the Dark Green on order. The same color and finish as groundclown used. Anxious to receive it.

I promise to post pics.....................least I could do for all the help and suggestions I've gotten for this project.

Decided to go ahead and prime the press last night. I broke it down and completely stripped it a couple of days ago and with our high humidity here it was starting to get some very light rust in a few places. Figured I'd just put a stop to it. I'm going to have to wait almost two weeks for the paint to arrive and I didn't want to have the whole press rusted by the time it gets here.

Not my picture, but a picture of the color from the guy who pointed me to the paint. The Vise is the new paint job.

Well I just happened to be in the Home Depot where I bought that can several months back. Sure enough, no hammered green. Not that I doubted you Chris but I though maybe I'd see a few cans on the shelf...no such luck.
I guess I'm going to have to treat that can I've got carefully.

Okay, as promised, here's a pic. I like the color.......though I'm sure some would be quick to point out it's not a perfect match. One thing I know for certain, now that it's "dressed proper" it will size my bullets ever so much more accurately................................or at least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

    What Color???

Looks good. I two refurbed two LAM1s. One in the same color as your RC and one that's closer to the old original color.

I don't really like the Hammered Green. I hope you primed it. I know they say you don't have to. But the paint chips off rather easily if you don't. Especially around the bolt holes. Mine were stripped bare before painting.
