What are you all using for additional trays to bake?

Hey all - I made the tray that came with my cheapo toaster over unusuable for anything but hollow point boolits by putting a long screw every 3/4"! I'd like to lay some RNs on their base to coat - what are you all using for trays? I figure it would be fussy to try to fabricate something exactly the same size to fit in the fussy little grooves, so maybe something I could set on something like long screws?

My cheapie oven only came with one tray..I adapted a metal mail tray that I got from GoodWill store for less than $2.00...Bill.

I cut some cheap sheet metal, wrap it in wax paper, and just sit it on an oven rack.

It does seem odd that toaster oven trays aren't easily found at the grocery store.

I barrowed one of the girlfriends cookie sheets, then replaced her's with these. Was the same thing she had, she got 2 new ones I got the 2 old ones. For $11 with tax not bad and they are thick enough they don't crawl around when heating and cooling. 18ga. Alum. 18"X13"X1"

Cookie sheets. Or get some scrap sheet metal and cut your own. I use a full size oven, so my options are wider.

I spray a little corner of an old rag with some 'graphite' in aerosol form, powdered will do the same…and wipe the edge of the aluminum trays and in the narrow slots of the oven itself, then wipe it off with a clean cloth. This stuff will stay there in the pores of the metal but not come off on the hand after. It makes the trays slide into those ovens easier without sticking and causing the rounds too fall over.
I would suppose that some 400 or 600 grit sandpaper would slick the mating edges the same way.
Welding shops have a pile of scrap cuts of all sized metal sheets, the one here in Auburn is always happy to sell the scrap at junkyard weight prices and if they are as nice-o-guys as the fellas here, they will be amenable to shearing it into whatever size you need. It only takes a moment of their time.

Road signs work great if you can score any sometimes you can find them at the scrap yard and can be cut with a skillsaw and fine tooth blade a reg carbide blade will work also but more prone to kickbacks.

My new Oster convection oven has tons of room and I use 10x14 non-stick trays from the local 99 cent store with NSAF on them. I have 6 of them and fill them up as 2 are baking. Can you say "assembly line"???????

I made a coupled of extra trays out of sheet metal.

No need to overthink this.

I covered my racks with roof flashing front to back leaving the wire edge exposed to run in the track. Attachment 170908
Then I cut silicone mats to fit that just lay on the flashing for a non-stick surface. I have been using the same mats for over two years now.

Cookie sheets work if you can find the right size, but some of the el cheapo trays will flex and cause your load to shift. Cutting down a larger wire rack to fit works if you can weld or have someone that can. Cutting heavy gauge sheet steel to fit also works, but may need some horizontal support to keep it from flexing.
Having extra trays definately speeds up the process.

I got some 1/8" aluminum sheet off ebay and made several; that way they can cool while others are in the oven and being loaded up

I cut the bottom off of coffee cans and cut a round piece of parchment paper to fit. I can do two at a time in my small toaster oven-about 50 bullets - 45's.

You can find these trays at walmart in their seasonal grilling section. They are 10x7" and cost $1.60 each. You can fit two to a rack in a standard sized toaster oven (you might have to angle one up a bit, only a problem if you worry about making sure your bullets are all upright)

I'm still using the original single tray , just keep swapping out the foil. One of these days I'll remember to look while I'm at the store and pick up a spare.
