    30 caliber SWC?

Have a puzzling bullet mold. 30 caliber (.310-11) 150 grain Gas Check SWC with dual crimp grooves. Looks like the old Thompson 38-357 SWC. Mold has no markings, no clue who made it, its made of steel. What is it for? why was it made?

Sounds like a nice mold for one of the various "32" caliber guns built with 308 barrels.

+1 on the post above. Depending on the diameter it drops boolits at, any of the 32 S&W/32 H&R/327 Federal as well as the 32/20 are options.

I also sometimes shoot a similar boolit in my 30 calibre rifles as a squib load with good accuracy for short range plinking.

Drops .310-.311, 150 grains. So its small for 32-20 and dang heavy for a pistol

Yes, that is small for the 32s. I'll bet it would be great for a Ruger 30 Carbine revolver.

Sounds like a great plinker for any of the 30 cal rifles too.

    311 from what alloy.
    lino-type would get another .001
it'd be pretty good in a single shot handgun in say 30-30/32-20 like many of the contenders come with.

was using 92-6-2 alloy. It actually shot decent in a 03 Springfield. Plan to keep the mold and try in other rifles.
Its specs just don't add up easy to something I would expect someone to have had made.

coulda been for the Ruger 32-20 hawkeye target pistol.
a 150 swc would be a bit long but [shrug] it would be a pretty good 50 yd target bullet.
