Help me decide on a handgun

To say the least, I'm stuck. Im debating between a CZ-75b and a ruger super blackhawk stainless 5.5 inch barrel. I know they are totally different but I love them both. All my shooting is done on steel from 35 to 100 yards. I like the CZ because it is cheap to load and it is just a classic. The 44 is still pretty cheap to load but more than the 9mm. I currently have a ruger gp100 and a glock 22. I have a few others but dont shoot them much. Which one of these do you guys have more fun with? I don't have a progressive press yet so loading 9mm would be a little but of a chore. Let me know what you guys think and if you need anymore info. Thanks!

Well, you're going to get a bucket full of suggestions on this one.

While I enjoy single action handguns like the Ruger, I find the double action Smith & Wesson revolvers more fun as well as being very versatile handguns. For a semi-auto in 9mm, I do like the CZ 75s, but the Browning Hi-Power is my favorite semi-auto in 9mm.

My two cents, but you wouldn't go wrong considering those two options.

Actually, for what you describe as your typical shooting, I would get the CZ (they fit me better than Scharf's Browning HP, which is also a good gun).

I like single action revolvers as well, for plinking and hunting; but a double action is more versatile.

Somehow, I am more tilted towards the CZ, mainly because I have two of them and they are a perfect 9mm semi-auto.
And, they are consistently accurate, unlike my moody S&W M&P9.

Yeah I will eventually get both. As much as a like the 44 and think it's really cool I would probably be better suited with the CZ.

I will be a bad (lazy) influence and vote for the Ruger so you don't have to chase brass all over creation. But the CZ-75 is a very nice pistol, so I would be a bit torn too. I can't help but think the true question is which one to get first. Any possibility you can put both on layaway and pay them off so you don't take a chance of someone else buying either one and you missing out?

Are you reloading? If so the cost of ammo should not enter into it.

That being said, my first handgun was a Ruger SBH. Still have it (40+ years) and would never get rid of it. I have had a couple of different 9mm semi's and none of the still reside with me. If you really want to shoot 9mm consider a Black Hawk .357 convertible that comes with the 9mm cylinder.

The choice is simple..buy them both.

I would run with the Ruger for ringing steel at 100 yards but if i was to get a 9mm just for target work it would be in the 1911 style

For targets why not get a .357? You can load it with .38's as inexpensively as the 9mm and do not need to chase brass.

I would start with the Ruger and then get the CZ. I don't see a right or wrong answer. Either way you win.

I'd go with the Ruger ... but, a "Red" version

I have a friend that has a redhawk. It is nice but the grip angle isn't very good with hotter loads.

well I have both and they are different and used for different things.
if your just gonna make holes in stuff at 20 yds get the CZ.
who cares if you fling 9m brass and lose some, you'll probably pick up 50 to the 2 you lose.
now the ruger is a good gun too but be aware that you may have to have the cylinders reamed to make them all the same size.
once it's dimensionally correct you have a revolver capable of very good 50-100yd groups.

Hmmm. I've got a CZ & 1.5 clones (plastic frame EAA not quite there) and 2 blackhawks. I'd start looking for used guns & let fate decide. I will say I've sold blackhawks, but haven't sold a CZ.

Run the pawnshops & let us know what turns up first. I'll bet on the Ruger. CZs tend to be kept.

I just saw a CZ sell for $375 a couple days ago. I wish I had the cash at that moment.

My personal choice would be the CZ every CZ I have owned I still have all the Ruger hand guns I have owned have been sold or traded not that the were not good guns just there has always been somthing that suited me better.

Man a CZ is a tough one! Such a good gun! Seriously looking to adding a few too! But more than anything right now, I have Wheelgun fever! Just a couple weeks ago picked up a S&W 686 Plus, I am loving it! .38/.357 is so versatile and fairly cheap and friendly to load and shoot. You can hammer some pretty hot .357's through it if you feel the need to flex your manhood some. I am on the hunt to get a little 642 next. I also am eager for some older, classic S&W's. Local fun shop has a 2nd model Hand-Ejector that I reserve some lust for!

Friend, be sure you are happy with the trigger pull on the 642 before you commit. I sold mine because I could never get used to it. Yet, I can shoot my 637 double action just fine.
