    lyman moulds

Has anyony ever heard of or had a lyman 311490 mould?
A gunsmith friend of mine told me it was the best boolit he had ever used many years ago when he loaded for a living for the 7.62x54R M44.
It is a 190 gr trunciated hardcast bollit.
I have been looking at lyman and on e bay but no luck.

    7 MM:

Can you get back to your friend and re-check the mould number? The only ...490 cherry number I have in my logs is a 230-gr. gas-checked SWC for the .45 ACP and AR and the late .45 Colts with 0.452 groove diameters; introduced in 1912 and still in the 2008 Lyman catalog.

He may be thinking of the Saeco 190 gr bullet or the 180 gr .311 bullet, #s 301 and 305.

I have the Lyman 311041. It casts well I am getting very good groups with it. Another highly recommended design is 311041. They are both GC designs.

The two designs are old and established as good bullets.
