I'm totally hooked now. Got some new powder in and just had to try. Dry tumble with random bbs. Harbor freight powder has nothing on this!!!

You're not supposed to sniff the stuff. grin I blew up a cloud of powder coat when I blew the excess off some boolits on the way to my garage and oven. And of course the wind was blowing toward me and I inhaled. I definitely knew I had inhaled something new. I could taste it. I try to be more careful now. I'm already a Blue Nose from spending time in the Arctic Circle. Don't need a coat of signal blue to prove it.......Mike
It is amazing how many hobbies (powder coating) are inside of other hobbies ( boolit casting ) that are inside of other hobbies ( reloading ) that are inside the original hobby (shooting)...ya gotta love it... I love my PC

I use a "netty pot" to clear my sinuses. I was scared when I did this after spraying red powder! I get significantly less with air soft BB tumbling. It is a great sub hobby.
Did anyone notice the article in the latest Guns and Ammo about Federal selling coated bullets?

Yes one coat! Totally blown away at the coverage after baking. Even if I scuffed them up when grabbing with hemostats. Wasn't getting any of the speckled pigment spotting like HF red. Baking bullets on its sides resulted in OK bullets. A bit of a flat part where it lays. But I'm sure sizing would smooth that over. Base down definitely works better. RAL 5051 sky blue. Only 12$ shipped from powderbuythepound via eBay.
I got addicted to PC a couple years ago when a bunch of us were playing with different methods of application. I think most of us settled on dt as the go-to, and I haven't looked back since.

You folks here are a really bad influence. got some more colors in today. And just had to go out and get some more tubs to bake!
If you are not getting one coat coverage you are most likely buying the wrong powder or possibly using the wrong technique.
yes, feeding the addiction...now buying more guns just to shoot the things.... Bisley anyone?

I thoroughly enjoy the powder-coating side of boolit casting. A BIG step forward as far as my casting and shooting is concerned.
All the people here who devoted their time, energy and money to work this method out, have done the rest of us a big favor!
And I thank them!

I don't have any trouble getting good coverage with one coat of HF red using dry tumble.
Then when I finally got some .25g black BBs it became even eaiser.
They may not be as pretty as others but they are fully covered and shoot great. I've coated, .380, 9mm, .357, .41, 44, 45, .500, 50cal muzzleloader and 30 caliber rifle all one coat DT with HF red.
I'm sure at some time I'll use something else but I doubt it will be before my HF red is all used up.

A pound of the powder go a looooong way!

I guess using one color of powder is less costly, allowing one to concentrate in getting the best coating the powder can offer, but at some point it has to become boring. I enjoy experimenting with any hobby and use a different color powder for different bullets. I can tell which bullet I have just by looking at the color.
