Biggest flash and noise level combo?

Looking to get a muzzle brake/compensator for my 18 inch at barrel and I want a custom load for some cast or j words. Any suggestions on how to increase flash and loudness? It's an outdoor rock quarry area with a lot noise deflection. I'm already half deaf but I like my guns loud and I might as well go all out right?

Get a Miculek brake or something similar.

Load the slowest powders appropriate for your chambering and bullet.

Chinese type 53 should cover it.

+1 on the type 53. My M44 mosin is all shock and awe when you light it up in an indoor range. Great fun! Although I've seen a muzzle brake called the "loudener". Giant single chamber brake.... here's the link. http://snakehoundmachine.com/store/h...-loudener.html

    Chinese 53 cut to 17.5 "
A guy sitting next to me at the rangs shooting a 300 Win Mag, got up and moved 5 benches down to get away from the noise.
You should see it fire at night with IMR4350.

Short barreled Mosin Nagants kill 3 different ways, flame throwing muzzle flash, concussion grenade report, and then the Boolit hits.

When I was a wee lad of 14 or 15 in the early 1970's a gentlemen who frequented the local small gun shop had a 458 Win mag cut down to 18". Why I will never know but he was in the same boat and "liked his guns loud". He staggered every time he fired it off hand and that noise and muzzle flash is still with me today 40 years later. Not my cup of tea, I move when even an AR with a MB shows up at the range. The worst are the K31 owners and their MB's. Geez, we all have to share the range, I know guns are supposed to be loud, but when even plugs and muffs are not enough to keep out the noise, I pack up and hit the trail. Just getting old and grumpy I guess, but I hate to waste what little time I have to use a local range when all I can think about is when the next blast is coming.

A case full of FFg should increase the flash and smokiness, maybe even the decibel level.

What caliber and rifle are you contemplating doing this with?

For a loud muzzle brake design, look at the brake on a 25mm chain gun. They will rattle rust from between brackets on the ship.

One other thing: let me know when you are going to the range, so I don't plan a trip there at the same time.

Only thing I know that will beat my M38 Mosin was an HK 51K

And yep - shorter barrels - slower powders - muzzle brakes tend to make it LOUD

Damn a short barreled full auto 308? Impressive, but something I will never own.

I have an AAC Brakeout comp on my 223 and hate it because it's a noisemaker/flamethrower all in one. If this interest you, I'd sell it to you.

I guess there might be louder rifles, but my ears are still ringing from the M 107 Barrett 50 cal rifle.

Pretzelxx, I see that you are at Fort Lewis, which is where I retired from. If you want to link up for some shooting at the Paul Bunyan shooting club east of the base, send me a PM and we can coordinate.

slow the powder down if you want muzzle pressure. [fire-ball]
I shoot 4831 in my 308 under cast boolits in my AR-30 and even with the 30" barrel it will blow the targets and stuff off the benches near me.

I'd think the 280 mm atomic cannon oughta do it. If you thought the muzzle blast was loud, how about the projectile detonation.

Once while adjusting fire for an 8" battery, I had to return to the firing battery for some coordination and I got to pull the lanyard on the M110 howitzer while there. Yep, it was pretty loud and to this day, it is the biggest weapon that I've ever fired.

The loudest though were the old 90mm M67 Recoilless I gunned in VN and the M40A1 106mm Recoilless Rifle. The 84mm Carl Gustav RR runs 'em a close second.

20" barreled .308, compressed load of WC-852, magnum primer, 125 grn soft point, that will do it every time! Fireball in the daylight and guaranteed noise!

An old gentleman who had experience shooting the WW2 German Flak 88 told me:" the blast mixes your soul with your **** ".

I don't know what it means exactly, but I'd say the blast was quite bad..
