OAL with lee 125gn 9mm boolit

Casted my own 9mm boolits with a lee mold, 4.8gn of power pistol. To get them to fit into my xds the oal needs to be 1.115ish. Some of them have an oal of 1.100. This seems really short. Anyone have any experience with an xds and an oal this short with PP?

What is the specific designation of the Lee 125 gr. boolit you have? Is it the 356-125-2R?

Are you sure this isn't a boolit size issue instead of an OAL issue? What does your load data call for?

My Lee manual doesn't have specific data, but other powders call for 1.125, but they're all like that and it seems a little generic for me knowing that all guns have different chamber lengths. When I size them to that length the don't pass the plunk test very well.

I size the boolits in a lyman 4500, so the size should be gtg.

I use 1.1 for a whole spectrum of weights in the 9mm. Do a safe load work up and you won't have issues. Has worked fine in the 7 different 9mm pistols I load for. Special ammo for each gun is for the birds.

Thanks. It seems crazy to have to load a specific oal for each pistol just for plinking. I like to load for the tightest tolerance pistol.

I really like the Lee 356-125-2R and load it for my CZ 75B, three different Glocks w/LW barrrels a BHP and an HP carbine. I size all 9MM to .358. The MAX COAL with this boolit in my 75B is 1.070 and I load this boolit to an OAL of 1.065. It has proved totally functional and very accurate in all weapons.

Totally agree : "Load for the tightest tolerance chamber" and then "Start low and work up."

I do like to put things in perspective from known data. While I do not have specific data for the 356-125-2R the Lyman 4th Ed. CB Handbook provides data for some boolits in the same weight ball park with Lyman specified OAL's as described below. Given that a 9MM case length is .750 and I happen to have the cast boolits to measure their length:

Lyman 356242, 120 gr., OAL 1.065, boolit length .579, depth in case .264
Lyman 356402, 120 gr., OAL 1.110, boolit length .624, depth in case .264
RCBS 9mm-124-CN, 124 gr., OAL 1.050, boolit length .575, depth in case .275

Now the Lee 356-125-2R, 125 gr., at OAL 1.065, boolit length .565, gives a depth in case of .250.

As you can see the 356-125-2R provides the most boiler room in the case even at an OAL of 1.065.

Your starting load of Power Pistol 4.8 grs is below the starting load for Power Pistol for any of the 120~125 gr. boolits listed in the Lyman 4th Ed. so that looks like a good place to start. Be safe and have fun.

Im a little late but i load the same boolit for my hipoint c9 to 1.115 oal over 3.9 grains of bulleseye. No experence with power pistol but it gives good results.
I cast therefor I shoot. Or is it the outher way around?

I did the same with bullseye, but ran out and can't find any at local gun stores. I was worried because of a different burn rate with PP.
