ar 15 70gr cast boolits load

hi all, I am looking for loads for an ar15 1 in 7 twist 70 gr gas check.
    just built the gun
    55gr mill surp groups suck
63 gr fmj 23 gr varget groups suck
    70gr speer varmint 22gr varget 1" at 50yd 2" at 100yd with a crunchy trigger
I am looking for a load using varget or 748 for fun shooting so I purchased some 72gr cb gas check on line to try out before I buy a mold.
I need a load that will not lead up my barrel and all my books only show loads for jacketed boolits.
all I have read is that 55 gr boolits will work ok in 1 in 7 twist but this yankee hill varmint upper so far only likes a heavy boolits
so far I am pulling my hair out and am getting to the point that I am going to be pulling the barrel out! thanx lenny

Lenny...some encouragement for a fellow NYer.... there are many guys getting good result with AR's and cast....I load cast for an AR as well ... RCBS 55g sp ( they drop at @61g with my alloy).... powder coat and GC .... they run about 2300 fps in a 1/9 without leading ..The accuracy is not MOA at 100yrds but acceptable for my purpose and runs the gun reliably ... 1/7 do like heavy Jacketed bullets but I kinda think you have a fast twist rate for a 72gr cast bullet.... Just my opinion mind you..AR's and cast is a bit uncharted ..I personally had to go out side the "loading book comfort zone" to find what works for me... and you may in fact hit upon a combo that works for you....here is a link to a fair bit of info regarding AR ammo.. http://www.razoreye.net/mirror/ammo-...Mirror.htm#poi

    Hey crashguy,
    Thanks for the link!
A couple of months ago I purchased the Lyman AR reloading manual, and low and behold it had cast bullet info.

ar's with cast are nothing more than developing an OCD for perfection.
once you get past that it's actually pretty easy.

look for the several hundred posts I have made on the subject.
748 will work just fine, find the load slipshodd posted.

start with 16-18 grains of 748. this was my magic start for function in my 1x9 twist and noe 60 grainer. dont push velocity much past 2100 and no leading and accuracy was close to 1.25 moa. my finish load for ar/223 was 18.5 of hodgedon cfe223, was 2150 fps and 1.2 moa consistenly at 100 yds. these were sized .225 and hard linotype.
