    Lee 358-140-SWC

Is any one using this mold? Just cast 500 boolits that weigh in at around 143 grains.
Searching for load data with very thin results. Just trying to shoot plinking loads out of a short 38 spl, and a 357.
Looking to load with Unique, or Bullseye.
Thanks in advance for any help! 😗

I would just load with 158 LSWC data and work up.

I've used those in .38 SPL in .38 SPL revolvers and found it to be and excellent bullet. I followed loads from the #3 CBH for a 146 gr cast and found 3.5 - 4.5 gr to be excellent start and max loads with Bullseye powder. I cast the ones I used out of COWW + 2% tin then mixed 40/60 with lead. I used a .358 H&I sizer and lubed them with Javelina. I seated to the crimp groove and used a medium crimp. They did quite well out of my 5" S&W M15. The mould I used was a borrowed 2 cavity and I keep threatening to get a 6 cavity but the 6 cavity TL358-158-SWC I have is doing as well so I haven't yet. If you've not got either mould yet I think it's a toss up for the .38 SPL. The 140 gr SWC may be better for the .357 Magnum though because of the lube capacity.

I've not tried them in the .357 Magnum so can't help there.

This is my first cast out of this new to me mold with this boolit. Thanks for the replies.
So for a lighter boolit I should go to the next heavier or should I go to lighter data?

I use that boolit in 357 case with 4.2 grs. of Bullseye. This is the most accurate load in my new S&W 686 6 inch.......Terry

I've used it with 700x from 3.3 - 3.9g as well as with Bullseye. So far Bullseye at 3.6 is the most accurate for me in my Model 66. I've shot thousands of them and will continue to do so. I like using Ben's Red as a lube.

    You will like this boolit.

I've loaded some with 3 gr. of red dot. Have not shot any yet. Hoping for low recoil load for new shooters.

This is a fantastic bullet both in the .38 Spl and .357 Magnum. All my guns shoot it accurately no matter what powder I use. It is on par with a 148 WC. However getting a top punch (TP) and seating screw (SS) to fit it is tricky. It has the same nose configuration as Lee's 105 SWC bullet ..I like both so I had a fellow with a lathe make custom ones for me---in a pinch,
use a Lyman 402 TP & SS. I can give you some load stats if you'd like...basically use any that are for a 158 grain bullet and you'll be fine.

I use the data listed for 148 grain cast wadcutters. Thats a nice little boolit, one of the first I bought years ago. It is so old , it's a single cavity, and price tag on box....$11.98.
Cast a lot of them with that little Lee open top pot and a ladle.
