    Looking for lead

Hey guys I hope I'm posting in the right section of the forum but anyways, I've started a business in Northeast Arkansas manufacturing crappie jigs and I've pretty much ran the scrap yards around my area dry of lead along with the tire shops willing to sell me wheel weights and I'm running pretty low right now. Does anyone know where else I could get some or anyone here sell it it. I've been doing this for a couple of years and I've paid anywhere from $.80-$1.00 per lb and trying to avoid paying more than $1.30 per lb. I'm willing to pick it up if it's close enough to get there and back in a day or pay for shipping if not. Any help would be awesome. Thanks

What about local shooting ranges? I imagine a lot of people in NE AR probably use private land for shooting though.

Yes I've only got one in my area but they sell theirs to the local scrap yard which doesn't sell anything to the public.

Curious? Why couldn't you use Zinc wheel weights? In this area you can get zinc weights for little or nothing.
    just a thought.

I've looked into using zinc but all my equipment that I've bought won't work for it since zinc melts a lot hotter than lead. Thanks for the input though.

Sounds like you're working on a somewhat large scale. May be time to call up some of the foundries. I hope you're near a freight hub!

There are several people in the swapping and selling section selling lead in the price range that you posted.

Any place around that would have any scrap sail boats? Pretty good chunk of lead in the keel.

With all the people out there looking for lead to melt down into boolets for their shooting sport, you may be paddling upstream against the current on this site with your request.Robert

A business plan would have this issue solved and you could focus on other tasks.
One sponsor here has the ability to provide clean pure lead at a decent price, providing you purchase in quantity:

Pallet Lead Ingots (99.9%) 500 pounds $1.55 lbs

zinc's melt point is 57-f higher than leads is.

I can recall the days when I was actually a youngster and had to find sinker material if I wanted to do any fishing. Tying several small zinc washers above the worm wrapped hook served me fairly well.Robert
