NOE 268 134grain is what I have loaded up waiting to be tried (hopefully this weekend) in my M41. I'll report back with good results I hope.

NOE 270 134 since I wanted to be sure I could get a .270" bullet with ww/range scrap lead. Works well in the few loads I have had time to try so far.

    I'm getting 1750fps out of 23gr W748 under the NOE 269 145. 16gr 2400 gives the same.

My Carcano seems to have a preference for a crimp also.

I looked on Lee's web site and did not any moulds for 6.5mm. What mould did you start with?

Thanks for link. Do you guys use it in the Carcano as is or do you modify it to cast a lighter boolit?

As per my previous post, I bought 2 moulds, cut one down to throw 150gn bullets and found they performed better in my M91 than the original 170gn.

I also use the cut down version with some success in my type 38 Arisaka.

From the photo it would appear to me that you remove the spur plate and handles. Clamp the mould in milling machine vice and mill it down. Maybe "uk" will post the amount he took off to achieve the 150gr end result.

You are correct in your observation that the handles and sprue plate were removed.

The mould was then turned down in a lathe with a 4 jaw chuck, to remove the lower driving band, which reduced the weight to 150gn. The amount removed was 0.190, which took the lower driving band off, but left the lube groove, which is where I fix the gas check on with Lok-Tite.

I had a machinist buddy carry out the work to my specification.

I shoot the bullet as cast at 0.2695 diameter.

While I have cut down one of my "Cruise Missile" molds to 145gr like ukrifleman, the NOE 269-145 shoots better in my 6.5x55. I expect that the NOE 270-163 will shoot better with it's .265" bore riding nose. NOE has done all the work for you and they're doing an inventory run with 15% off for signing up early.

Same process different method. There is more than one way to skin a mould.
