I really was not trying to beat you out of any of your stash. I just looked at my chart and it shows 20-1 to be 10 bhn. Did not think about the chart until now!

I'm not at all concerned about a thumb-sized piece of alloy out of my 'stash'.
Which 'chart' are you referring to?
The 'published chart' that is found on a lot of sites ... or a chart that is supplied with your tester?
I know that all of the published charts say that 20-1 is 10 BHN, but that happens to be wrong.
I am more interested in knowing what the Cabine Tree tool returns as the hardness of 20-1.

Retired...TWICE. Now just raisin' cows and livin' on borrowed time.
Got my Cabine Tree in yesterday, and have tested everything I could get my hands, but I have a question.
I tested some SOWW and they come up to 5 on their chart.
My question is on the lead calculator on this site, says SOWW are 6Bhn,but when you put in 1 LB in the SOWW, at the bottom it comes up as 8.7.
What gives?
BTW, I'm extremely happy with the Cabine

You are correct at 5.
Contact Bumpo (tha author of the spreadsheet) on here and he will explain why the 8-ish is in there. If it is not , the sheet is not accurate at all. After all, how many times do you need to calculate the hardness of pure lead with a spreadsheet!!!!!!!!!
The sheet DOES work quite accurately when you have several elements mixing in.

Montana Charley, That was from a sticky at the top of this thread. I've found that chart to be useful. I wish I had some actual 20-1 to test. I don't know enough about it to know if 10 is correct or not.
I've been using the LBT tester regularly for at least twenty-five years; seems to work very well. I'm unfamiliar with the other testers mentioned here.
Have you checked out this test...

My LBT tester is easy to use, and provides a fast reading. Maybe not as flexible as the Lee, and I have no experience with CT, but LBT is my recommendation...

One of the most endearing sights in the world is the vision of a naked good-looking woman leaving the bedroom to make breakfast. Bolivar Shagnasty (I believe that Lazarus Long also said it, but I can't find any record of it.)
Spare dial indicator and a torque wrench on sale at Harbor Freight for 10 bucks, it could be a lot simpler based on your resources- http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...in-Lead-Tester
