Put down the 327's and picked up the 44's

Of late I have been infected with the Super Seven bug. My Superblack and Redhawk were collecting dust in the safe. I had casted up some 310 Lees and some Lachmiller 250 swc's. I really surprised myself with both bullets. Best load with the SWC's was 10.5 grs Unique. The 310 Lees really took to 18.5 grs of 296, very accurate and no leading. I really need to get these chronied, but the 296 load was pretty fierce in the SBH. The Red hawk handled the heavies just fine.

yah know, I'm in the same boat. My big bores sit sad and lonely while the pee-wees get to come out and play. I haven't shot a 45 all year, and except for a couple of times before hunting season, my 44's have been idle as well. My 22's and 32's have been getting a workout, as has my 9 mms, but I haven't pushed any boolits over 158 grains this year, save for a box or two of 44's. I must be getting feeble in my old age.

Well, since the Single-Seven is off to the factory, I cast up some 44-250K boolits last weekend and broke out my stash of Unique. I spent an hour or two loading up a hundred 44 Specials. Nothing wild, 6.5 grains, but I know from past experience that this will shoot well from my 44 Flat Top. Well, well, as this was being written, the UPS guy delivered a package right to my front door. My Single-Seven is back from the factory with a new base pin! Now I guess my 44 will have to share the spotlight this evening.

My SRH 9.5" and Ultradot makes it to the range at least once a week to burn 100+ of Lee 200 RNFP 7.2 of HP38 in 44 mag cases. I throw in a cylinder or two of Lee 310s loaded hot with H110 just to turn heads and to keep sharp with my hunting load..... This SRH hands down favorite handgun of all time....

My SRH just loved 18.5 grains of H110 speed WC820 and that Lee 310 grain Boolit. Did OK all the way up to max loading but NOTHING bet the 18.5 and it gave me right 1100 fps. I ned to cast some more of those.

In fact it is the best group I have shot out of any revolver at 50 yds.

The loading was a lot less fun to shoot out of a Redhawk and less so from the SBH and I never tested that one for accuracy in either of those two guns.

Sounds interesting. I may have to try that charge with a Mihec 300 gr hp mold I have layin' around. I've been looking for a heavy load for the SRH.

I hear ya- sure been loving my SBH in 44 even more lately. This 300 gr over H-110 sure is fun and more accurate than me. Now that I am using Ben's LL it is even faster to load and super clean. This load is really trucking along, but compared to the 240gr jacketed factory rounds, it is way more fun to shoot.

Planning to cook up about 300 tomorrow now that I have the load dialed in better, to practice for next fall should an unfortunate deer walk through the property.

I picked up this great range find the other day, I have no idea what I hit to get it to slow down and not be mangled, but it sure was fun to find it.

Yup same here. Took my Son to the range today. My Single 7 and 32-20 S&W Hand Ejector got the bulk of the work out.
AT the end though I did get a mag or two through the 1911 and a cylinder of 38's
32 bug bite has been itching I guess.
