    Question Corbin's 224 BT Question

    Hello,

I bought a Corbins used "new" 224 kit. In the kit I have:
    CSW-1 Core Swage Die
    CS-1 Core Seat Die
    PF-1 Point Form Die
Then the 224 P BT punch

So following Corbins' instruction at (http://www.corbins.com/rbt.htm) talks about a BT-1 & BT-2 die which I do not have.

Do I have everything to make 224 boattails?

If I do have everything, could someone post a how to make them?

    Thanks,
    CM

    Sounds like you do.
instructions should be available on the Corbin's site.

    the basics are.
you swage the core to weight you want combined with your jacket weight.
seat the core into the jacket in the second die.
point form in the third using the B/T punch to form the base.

To swage a rebated boat tail you need the BT1 and Bt2 dies ,the swaged core is seated into the BT1 first which pre forms a boat tail and it's then re swaged in the BT2 die with the BT profiled bottom punch this forms the rebate it is then point formed in the PF1 die with the BT profiled top punch,
The BT2 die is the same as the CS 1 core seat die but the BT1 is the extra die you seem to be missing and you only mention the one punch , a photo of everything you have bought could be useful

    Sounds about right.

Just check that the core seater die you have is straight to make a flat base, or included a taper to start the boat tail.
Be careful what you aim for, you might hit it! Antipodean Industrial - Home of the G7L projecitles

I agree with DAVEA, you need both the BT1 and BT2 dies and the assorted punches that go with them. Photos would help. Dave

Depends on the type of die. Corbin makes a set for reloading presses that use punches to form the boat tail. They look like this Click image for larger version.
