Over due lathe improvement

Very nice upgrade to your machine. I had done this years ago to an old Victoria mill, so I understand your feeling of accomplishment. Keep them projects coming......

Looks like a well done upgrade; when I began my eyes were much younger than the machines. Most of them were used during WWII and the "slop" was not worth trying to count so we used a dial indicator to know how much we were taking on a pass. Doing repetitive operations with a dial indicator on the cross slide or saddle makes the parts identical.

hi I must be really lucky I was complaining about the dial's on my sb lathe and one of the old tool makers at work gave me a set of new in the box sbl large satin finish dials, he said the company had bought them for a old sb they had, but got rid of the lathe before they could install them. he said they thru them in the trash and he dug them out because he new some one would want them down the road. lucky me.
