My run of good luck lately has been almost unbelievable. I swapped the city a cast iron sash weight for a large chunk of lead they were using for a weight on a cable. While I was doing that one of the city workers told me of an individual that had a bunch of gunpowder for sale, but everyone was afraid of it because it was old. I went to check it out and got 23 lbs. H4831 for $50, what the last guy had offered and then backed out when he learned that it had been sitting in the garage for 25 or more years. It was in a 50 lb. cardboard keg marked Hodgdon 4831 and 50 pounds crossed out and marked 23 lbs. This container was in an old 50 lb. metal shortening can, both containers sealed. The powder looks as good as the newest can I have with no hint of red dust or color and smells like new powder. Visually the same as IMR 4831, but I will start low and work up as always. WOW! I feel good! DALE BTW, checked the weight on scales and the 23 lbs appears to be right on if allowing a couple pounds for the keg.
