From everything ive read of internet says im near max but just want to be safe. All my books show nothing for a 173 grain flat nose gc boolit using H4895. Any body got it in there books? I pulled this off here last night.Attachment 118922

I use 27.5 or 28.0 grains of 4895 under boolits ranging from 150 to 180 grains in my 30/30's.
Hogdon lists a max of 31.7 grains with a 170 grain JSP. My 45th edition Lyman Reloading Handbook lists 29.5 grains as max with a 170 JSP. My 14th Edition Speer says 29.0 is tops. A more modern Lyman Manual says 28.0 grains max.
Your 28.0 grain load should be safe, but I would go no higher unless and until you get a chronograph. If this is a hunting load then I am on board with it, but for plinking and or practice I'd be more inclined to run 25-26 grains.

Thanks guys, load shot fine with no pressure signs. But the 3031 had a beter grouping. These are hunting loads.
