    IMR 4227 and a AR15

Has anyone used 4227 in a AR and got it to cycle? I'm at 15.8 grains and the bolt won't pick up the next round. On the bright side I got a 5/8 inch group at 75 feet. I'm gonna work up to the 17 grains listed as max. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. BTW its a 55 grain jword

Unless you are using a pistol length gas system I don't think you're going to have any luck. I think Reloader 7 would be about the fastest powder that would cycle an AR15 in .223/5.56. Now 300BLK is a different story...

No go. Sounded weird and still won't cycle bolt. Didn't check for accuracy. But...I think I'm gonna order a 223 barrel for my youngest sons Rossi 15.8 was pretty darn accurate.

17 grains worked in a M4 style - sort of. No failures to eject, two to feed, and would not keep the bolt carrier locked back roughly half the time. These stats are out of 40 rounds. Recoil was on the light side. No pressure signs. Good for plinking.
