    hornady 6.5 mm checks

If anyone here has some could you check them for outside diameter? I would appreciate it.

Just noticed that the thread on the 6.5 cruise missile was started by you. The Hornady gas checks fit loose on my cruise missile molds gas check shank. They would stay on when I sized to .266 but, wouldn't snap onto the shank. I had to hold it on while getting them into the sizer die. Just assuming that's why you're asking. They fit the Lyman 266645, 266469 and 266673 good.

Could you by chance measure the shank on a boolit if you have one handy? My shanks measure @ .250".

Sorry, everything I have right now is GC'd and lubed. Which mold? I can always turn the pot on. Any mold except the 6.5 cruise missle....I cut the GC shank off but, haven't got around to finishing that project. Haven't shot the 266469 or 266673, yet.

It is the cruise missile I am having the issues with. I have some boolits from a 266469 I had for a while and the hornady checks crimped crimped good @ .268". I could open the gas check shank on the mold but but not sure if my gator checks will crimp fully. They have an o.d. of .269". Thanks for the info.

Have you tried annealing them? I've read that it sometimes helps. Never tried it myself....never needed to.

Darrell, if your interested, I have some VulcanChecks brand 6.5 aluminum gas checks. I can send you some samples if you are interested. Send me a PM if you want some and where to ship them.
