What do those "ingots" weigh? Looks like they'd fill my 10 lb pot twice over.

They are just initial clean up melts to get the garbage out. Its range scrap so it was dirty as hell and need to get it all melted that's 2 1/2 buckets still have 8 to melt. Then when that is done it will all be blended together so I can test the hardness and alloy as needed then into small ingots. But a guess would say 65 each.

You are going to wind up with a lot of lead. Are you going to cast and shoot all that yourself? You must be a high volume user. or are you stockpiling?

High volume for low velocity my 300blk SBR is to expensive to shoot jackets @50¢ a projo so its getting 230 pced pills now.

That's a lot of work, good job! Good haul, too! Just like gold, eh! Have a ball shooting up all those free boolits!

Yeah like I said the 300blk is expensive to shoot at slow velocity, this is cheaper than 220grn serria hpbt match by a long shot. And best part I will have them back again when we clean the indoor range traps!!!

    Hi allen16323,

Was thinking of casting for the 300blk. Can you share what you use for a mold? Alloy? And how you find the accuracy of the pced pills? I already shoot powder coated 9mm and 45acp but if I could get good accuracy out of powder coated 300blk I would be inclined to get a mold and start casting for that as well. Thanks.

I used to cast ingots that big.

you might want to think about making them a bit smaller so it won't take as long to heat the next time, besides they sell better if they are smaller
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

The energy to heat them again is going to make free lead, expensive. Go ahead and flux the crud out and make your final ingots. The work is the same, but the time and cost is way better.
Your final alloy can be made as you cast boolits.

I need to get them all blended so I can alloy them properly and not have one ingot this hardness one at another. Then will cast them in pop can ingot that fit right in the pots.
