    SJ ... Any ideas ?

A friend gave me about 150 lb of these ingots. They have been out in his garage for many years. He said his dad got them for sealing joints in cast pipe.
I did my pocket knife test and it cuts like pure lead (2nd left)
Someone told me that some ingots like these contained some nasty stuff like sulphur and cadmium ?
Unsure but it looks and acts like soft pure lead ?
    tell me what you know

Probably plumbers lead. They come in all shapes and sizes. I have 4 that look like bars. More or less pure lead as makes no difference. Frank

My guess as well is plumbers lead just as your friend mentioned but erring on the side of caution would have you take a couple samples to the scrap yard to have it analyzed.

Plumber lead, nice find. It usually comes in 25 lb bars segmented in 5 lb ingots just like you have there. Sometimes the first ingot is a handle.

well I done some very, very limited research into this matter.

but the conclusion I come up with was that you need to mail all of this to runfive'swifes house.
where she will conduct further experiments, such as making cores for runfive's 22-30-38,and 44 caliber swaging efforts.
she will also see if it is compatible with other types of lead alloys, and she will also bring in a specialist
[runfive's little-girl] to check if it is compatible with any round shpaed molds that happen to be laying near HER 10 pound LEE pot. [at no extra charge of course].

any and all efforts in this direction will then be double checked by our world famous Q/C department by placing each and every sample under extreme pressure and duress in such things as a compression tool.
the malleability and flexibility will also be checked by forcing the test subjects through shape changes in our test tunnels err tubes.
we may include impact testing with various objects including dirt rocks paper and possibly live animal testing...
all of this service can be provided free of course if you want to receive no data back, however if you'd like to see a report of the testing you can tune into this website in the future and possibly YOUR lead can be featured in a write-up.....or you'll just see a picture of me holding up some fish...
but hey I did use your lead to make the sinkers I used to catch them.

    How thoughtful of you runfiverun.
I would do that, however, I was in my extraplanetary vehicle traveling to the sun to collect a small amount of solar plasma for use in my crucible that I use to melt my element 115 into fuel rods. Upon re-entry my aft stabilizer had a magnetic de-coupler fail. In order to stabilize the craft for re-entry I had to eject ballast in the forward section of the craft to maintain the correct attitude. The ballast happened to be all of the SJ ingots which were pictured. I am pretty sure the ejected ballast disintegrated from the re-entry heat.

You should see the element 115 made into q32 space modulators.
