Can powder coating be used to increase boolit diameter?

I have searched and read everything I can find about powder coating boolits and could not find an answer to this question:

Can I use powder coating to increase the diameter of a boolit?

How much can I expect to gain?

    Thanks if you can help.

Yes.......check out the Coatings and Alternatives. Better to start a thread over there as there will be more eyes looking at your post. I did some powder coating a few months back but I can't remember right of hand how much it added. Over .001 I do know though.

If you use the BB tumble coat it will be typically be thicker than ESPC

    - and you can do multiple coats if you have too.

How much are you trying to add?

ESPC will get you 0.001 all around which equals 0.002 total increase.

BBDT will CAN get somewhat thicker, depending on how/where you do it.

I shoot my 9mm NLG boolits that are PC'd and then sized in my 38SPL guns all the time with excellent performance. They slip the thru the .358 sizing die and conform the PC perfectly....and load in the brass well too!

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I need .002 increase in diameter so it looks doable.

Now to just figure out what ESPC and BBDT mean

Electrostatic (with a powder coat gun) or dry tumble in a staticky plastic container.

Yes it does. I have some 32 cal bullets that were dropping at .311 and I shoot them coated and unsized at .313.
