    Help, case knife ID???

    Hi guys,

Well, my father sent me a couple boxes of old fishing gear from my childhood, and in e box was my old case knife, still in beautiful condition...

It is from the 1950's or 1960's, and i would love to id it... When it was given to me by an old timer that lived in the woods nearby, i had no idea of the significance of the gift he gave, just that he gave me, a 10 year old, a awesome knife... Well, my dad squirreled it away when i went into the service, and now it is back into my hands. It even had the case that my cousin and i made all those 40+ years ago... I have no idea of the knifes age when it came into my hands... Just that it has none of the usual Case markings near the base of the blade that would help me decipher its age... I will post some pics and hopefully some of the old knife folks around here will recognize it in all its beauty...

If anybody can ID the vintage, it would be very cool... If you click on the pic's, they should show up larger.

I can't help you ID it but had to comment on what a beauty it is. What a great gift for a 10 year old.

I didn't see a tang stamp that matched your knife there, but I may have overlooked it.

Well, there is no tang stamp other then the word CASE. That is where the mystery lies...

That's a very nice knife, a friend had an Uncle Henry knife styled just like that, and he carried it all the time!

I LOVE case knives! I've carried a pocket knife since I was 10 years old myself, and about 9 years ago I had the fortunate opportunity to try a different knife and it was a case. After using old timers and bucks, my father-in-law taught me about case. I retire my cases about every 4 years or so.....come to think of it......it's about time to buy another one.

Anyway, I digress this is a very beautiful knife, you're lucky to have it!

Isn't the internet wonderful for finding things out,my dad had this knife that I always thought to be a Case knife never thought much about it not being a Case until a few weeks ago we got into a discussion on how to id case knifes and found out that his was a Remington made during the years of 1930 to 1935 and was usully given with the sale of a Remmy rifle.I don't know for sure but but he had a model 21 or model 12 Remington pump 22 rifle that was manufactored along the same time so I am guessing that he bought the rile and got the knife as a sales gimmick. He is the only one that would know for sure know and he is long passed.
Are my kids/grandkids more important than "o"'s kids, to me they are, darn tooting they are!!! They deserve the same armed protection afforded "o"'s kids.

When I read those articles that recommend the best knives if they don't include Case they hit the dubious file. I carry and use and abuse a pocket knife all the time and they almost always are Case CV 's.
