Components are scarce and Remington makes a run of these?

Why in the world would Remington decide to make a run of Etronx primers instead of something useful to a majority of people, like a higher volume of normal primers? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/831...ProductFinding If you have an Etronx rifle laying around, I guess you can load for it instead now.

I suspect that someone thought that they had better offload the backlog before the shortage ends,,,,

Worthless Idea. I remember they were almost giving them away when they realized no one wanted them at a shop local to me.

I don't even know what they are, but if remington is in the business of making them, why would they not make a run of them?

Etronx rifles are a great source for donor barrels. Very low round count on most you encounter.

Regular primers are $30 to $40 per thousand the EltronX primers are $225 per thousand, which would you rather sell?

Regular primers are no longer short supply nor high price. Just this past saturday I found them for $29 at a gun store in Jax Florida and they had plenty. My guess is if you sell a gun you need to make sure their are components for them.

may want to do a quick search on them, you'll realize soon enough why.

I don't know whether they made a run of them or not. Those have been the only thing in stock on Powder Valley's website through the length of the shortage. They are probably old stock. And I agree that the electric primers was the answer to a question that nobody asked.

Can you imagine how fine of a trigger could be made out of a microswitch? Can you imagine how much pressure an electric primer could be designed to hold? Think steel case.
We need somebody/something to keep the government (cops and bureaucrats too) HONEST (by non government oversight).

Every "freedom" (latitude) given to government is a loophole in the rule of law. Every loophole in the rule of law is another hole in our freedom. When they even obey the law that is. Too often government seems to feel itself above the law.

We forgot to take out the trash in 2012, but 2016 was a charm! YESSS!

I reckon being able to sell them at 22.59 cents each is reason enough to make them.

Just because they're priced at 22.59 cents each doesn't mean they are selling them.

They aren't a tax payer supported public service, they're a private for-profit company. They can make and sell anything they think is in their best interest, not yours. They may be making a good decision for profitability and that's what it's all about. They serve the share holders.

I imagine the tooling is different and there is not any reason to not make any on a machine that is just sitting there. Use what you've got.

Could be that Remington wanted to make and sell these for 1 of 2 reasons

    1) one of the higher ups needed them

    2) It was re-featured (the firearm and ammo) in one of the more recent American Rifleman so they in essence got advertisement

On simple terms, it could be the result of supply & demand.

They made them for only 3 years a decade ago and there are a whopping 6 for sale on gunbroker. 4 of them brand new in the box unfired. I don't think that is very much demand. I am leaning towards old stock with a bit of thought into it, but I don't remember seeing them so often in my occasional searches to see what is in stock, where, and how much $.
