    Weaver base install?

Just bought a weaver base for my Arisaka (#70 base). Is there a front and back to the base or do I install it anyway I feel like?

Both sides are the same. The only thing you have to watch out for, is the cross slot for the ring clamp screw. It has to allow the rings to position on the scope without hitting the W&E knobs, or the objective or ocular bells, and give proper eye relief. Most bases have the slot off center, to allow for this adjustment by mounting it forward or back. I always mount the rings so that the cross screw knob is on the right.
