Good info, thanks After the rifle comes in need to find someone to open the throat.

I have a japchester light weight and had issues with light hammer strikes . Problem got fixed years ago by replacement with a browning hammer

If one digs far enough back in the forums you can find discussions on the matter

I had misfires/light strikes with both an ELW 1886 and a 1895 bought in 2003. The problem was fairly regular with the 1886. The "Rifle" article came out about this time, recommending shortening the hammer strut. After following the recommendation, the problem was fixed. Fortunately, I haven't had much issue with the nonexistent throat with cast boolits (325-330 Gould and the 405 RCBS, which drops them at 415-420). I did have to seat 400 gr Speer SPs pretty deep, but I don't shoot them anymore.
You should be able to look up the hammer strut shortening procedure elsewhere on this website if you encounter problems with light primer strikes. Maybe Miroku solved the problem in rifles of more recent manufacture?

Being human is not for sissies.
Cycled some dummy rounds through mine today, and yep, basically no throat. Rounds were only 2.5 inches long and you could see where several had the bullet seated even deeper after cycling.
I need to find a good smith to recut the throat, any suggestions? Would like to find someone local if I could around the Colorado Springs area.
