    Rem no. 57 primers

Are these useless? I have a 1000 of them. Are they just a collectable now?

Thanks Alaskan. I see on the box they are .228 dia. That is really small.
These are very vintage, pretty cool display for my reloading room.

I'm in the process of using up the last of my "57" primers. I have around 6 boxes of 12 gauge and 4 of 20 gauge that use that size. figure I'll run outof those prmers just about the time I wear out those shells.

I have Remington 10 gauge and 16 gauge hulls that except the 57 primers . You "can" force a 209 in them and they kinda resize okay and then after that the 209's slide in like any other shell . I had some 57 primers but used them all already so now all of mine except 209's .

It's funny that I see these for sale, often very cheap, at gunshows. I generally buy them. I take a soda straw, cut it into about 1/4" long pieces, then while watching TV, slip them over the end of the primer. I then load them into the crappy shotshells I will throw away. So I get a usage from them and save $15. I load very light anyway.

I think the old 410 Rem hulls used them, because I still have some left from when reload the 410 years ago and still have some of the primers .That I am not doing anything with right now but I think for the odd hulls form overseas I think some of them might be able to use them in.I know most of them are over size of the 209. I also have some 157 primers also. They are sitting also but did not check the size of them yet.

Vopie got it just right...used to reload them and by the 2nd time specks of the base wad stuff would turn loose in your eyes on the ejection. Don't think I would bother with finding those old greenies....

Where do you live Bluepike? The hazmat fee may make it too expensive.
