    Digital readout for the Cabinetree

Awhile back I seen where someone bought a digital read out gauge that they got at Harbor freight, need to know the item number if possible, will be going too H F this coming week end and would really like to get one. Thanks.

    Dave,
You sent me down the hall to get mine. Its a Pittsburgh 6" Digital Caliper made of stainless steel. Displays in SAE and Metric. Item number of mine is 47257 and I paid under $10.oo if you don't count the exorbitant taxes. So far I can't see any differnce between it and the one I got from Midway. For 10 bucks it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Say Hi! to Gus for me.

How hard is it to read the dial?
You will learn far more at the casting, loading, and shooting bench than you ever will at a computer bench.

I am the one that started the digital indicator (NOT digital caliper) suggestion. I have one and love it.

Very easy to read!!!!!! Hate that analog thing it came with.

When the chart says 0.076 the thing reads 0.076.

I like it a lot, have had all the rest of the testers over the years and I like toys, some folks are good at guessing that's OK, but I like too KNOW where I stand and the Cabine tree has helped a lot.

They are BIG digits, not the tiny ones like they use in the cheeeeep calipers.

I suppose I don't see a need. The dial that came with my cabin tree is easy to read. I don't see how a digital readout makes a difference.

No, that would make them all want to read the same.

I found a 25% off coupon and picked up a digital indicator from Harbor Freight. I hate to admit it but I'm a little stunned at how nice a unit it is...not to mention for all of $22.50. I suspect the Cabine Tree tester will show up about Monday or so....

I have several of them throughout my shop on mills, lathes, and surface plates. One inch travel sure is nice. They are fairly accurate and easy to read. They last a long time. And you cannot beat the price!!!!!!!! Not lab accurate, but good 'nuff for gubmint work!

You never have to buy them! Ever!
The dial also eliminate that pesky power cord......

The little 1.5V "button" battery lasts over a year in mine. I get a whole package of 6 at the dollar store!

    There is NO cord!!!!!!!!!!

    Can't beat digital.
