One of my personal best with a cast, although it was before I started hunting with cast in breech loaders. Lyman Plains Bullets cast of pure in front of 100 grains of Pyrodex. I killed one with a much wider rack a few years before this one which would have been a bigger deer in a few years, this one was older and heavier though.

long before this board, I cast up some muzzleloader bullets and made my own lube.

When I tell them I cast my own bullet and got this deer, they usually forget the part about "cast my own bullet''.

THE biggest deer I've ever gotten.

I still have the gun, the hat and the truck, and that was about 13yrs ago.

One I shot with same rifle and bullet combo (the bullets were probably from the same casting session) a few years earlier, maybe 200 yards straight line distance from where I shot the other one.

Grizzly bear, twice, both with B00 my 1895 Marlin 45/70. One was with the 525gn RCBS FNGC at 1550 fps and the other was a 500gn paper patch with the same load. Both were very close range and both were DRT. There has been too much other game taken with boolits to even try to recall but those two bears will always be very clear in my memory.

Bull moose, bull elk, bear, deer, african game, lion, antelope, etc, all with revolvers & cast. Blammer, thats a dandy buck, I think you got lucky, cast won't do that!! A couple of grizz would be way fun, good job on that, especially with the classic 45/70 & paper!

Killed this doe a couple years ago with my as issued 1903, September 1909 vintage, killed it with a Ranch Dog 311-165 at about 1700fps. My dad and I crawled to about 60 yards before I took a shot.

What made it really memorable......Dad after he crawled through a cactus.

I'm trying to hunt more with cast but the only thing I shot with cast boolits was a unexpecting skunk! Nailed it at 30 yards with a rossi 92 in 45 colt!

This is my best trophy so far. Planning on heading to the hills in about two months to try this 285 gr cast 9.3X62 load at a bit over 2200 fps on a Spring bear.

Will report back, hopefully with pictures.

A running jack rabbit shot a Lyman 457122 cast with a pure lead nose and caught on video by messy bear. And we dug the bullet parts out of the bank behind the rabbit
