    Pretty impressive results! Good shooting.

What are the details on gun and slug?

I hope to get out this week and get some shooting done.

Gun is a 58cal Huntsman MZ that a friend and I converted to a 24ga Slug Gun. Twist 1:66. We shorten the barrel to 24" and recrowned the muzzle. We install a plug in the barrel and then bored it to about .5". The chamber was cut on a lathe with a carbide tool and we made a "throat" with a No.9 tapered pin reamer. Low budget affair.

The slug is a 58cal Lee round ball, cast with ACWW at .578". I used a BPI 24ga wad with the petals and crush zone removed. One 1/8" nitro card between the wad and RB. Roll crimped with the BPI metal crimp tool in my drill press. BPI hulls with whatever primer BPI uses in them.

In Mossy bolt guns , using heavy slow twist 58cal barrel,
and can use .585"-.587" Minie bullets as well as balls.
Can use plastic or magtech 2.5" brass.
Can use 577NE 3 inch brass cases
with rim thinned to match 24ga rim.
Chamber 3" with 9 degree forcing cone
then can use shot, slugs, balls, and load
bullets out. Use short and long cases.
You helped give me idea and with cheap
Minie bullets the thing to do.Ed

58cal is where it is at big bore wise, so to speak; like 58cal
slugs/577 bullets in my 585HE, in 12ga super sabot, in 24ga.
And 577 bullets are really 58cal.
There are more bullets/slugs, turned, cast, jacketed, solids, etc
in 58cal to choose from and easy to get, than
    any other caliber over 458.Ed

    Ed,

Do you know if there is a .585 to .587 RB mould available. I slugged my bore and the groove is .585" so the RBs I am shooting are quite a bit undersized. I am going to cast some soft lead LEE 472g HB minies and try them in this gun, and see if they work with the slow twist.

There are molds- I don't know who makes them. The
GunBroker seller Blue Falcon sells a .585" and a .587"
    Minies, but not round balls,
and I bought from him. Maybe he'd tell you what mold.
His prices not bad about 50 cents each.Ed
