I understand the numbers on the molds. What about the letters? Like 311316DW or 429244A. What are the letters, is there a table or legend for them?

Bearcove:
There's a "sticky" posted somewhere here that discusses Lyman mould markings. I don't know what the single letter "A" means. The double letters are a code on moulds made for the last couple of decades that identifies the outside shop that ground the "cherry" (profile cutter used to mill out the mould cavity): the "D" would be the fourth cherry for bullet #311316 (A, B, C, D....) made by supplier "W". We don't have the ID's of the individual suppliers; I suspect that Lyman would regard that as proprietary information and haven't asked for it. See the "sticky" for a lot more info along this line.
