    Cool Wish me luck!

So I found a nice old gentleman that is a retired printer. He has 6 or 7 drawers full of typeface he is willing to sell me. I am going over in the morning to check it out. Hopefully I will be leaving with the entire case. Fingers crossed.

Are my kids/grandkids more important than "o"'s kids, to me they are, darn tooting they are!!! They deserve the same armed protection afforded "o"'s kids.

I recommend not melting it down into ingots. It is easier to get the amount you want to mix in when it is in type form. Ask me how I know that one.

So a little disappointing this morning. The trays were almost all wood type. There was one tray that had some lead castings on top of woodblocks. There were also some cool copper stamps on wood. I paid him $40 for the lot and will try to sell some of the wood ones and make my money back. Or make a little profit and buy some linotype from rotometals.

    Oh well, maybe next time.

Did you get the drawers in the deal?

If they're wood drawers with dividers, one of them may pay for the entire lot.

Yeah they came with 8 drawers that had some of the dividers removed, and a smaller drawer with all of the dividers. I am pulling all of the letter/number combinations I want out of thew wood ones and i actually have about 8 or 9 pounds of lead in there too. there is one rather large dog "negative" stamp that is lead. and a few smaller ones for local businesses that i can add to the mix as well. As soon as I really sort through them, I will post what I come up with and a few pictures. There was one really cool small target (not the store) stamp about 2 1/2"-3" that I am excited to have. There is also a Lion's club stamp and 2 American Legion stamps that are nice. Overall I think I will make my money back plus a little profit and I get to keep some nice letters and got a little lead out of the deal. He was happy to get rid of them and even invited me over to work in his wood shop. He was 87 and very friendly and I enjoyed our conversation. Good times meeting people on the quest for lead. I completely blame this forum for getting me hooked. Thanks guys!

Sorry everyone! I will post pics as soon as I have time. I have been super busy working in my shop and cleaning up my lead. I did take some and will post as soon as I have time when I am not at work.
