I have a couple of shotguns. But the first 2 or 3 years I went trying to get a turkey I borrowed my brother's 16 gauge bolt action Mossberg with the screw down "vari-choke". It groups better than any other shotgun I've ever shot. I also have 3 box calls and 4 or 5 diaphragm calls. My brother went with me a few times. But neither of us had any luck. Some one else told me that maybe I called too much. I guess...?

I could call and get birds moving in semi close. But I NEVER got a shot at one. My health hasn't been too good the past few years. Maybe the doctors can get things straightened out and I can make it later this year.

Good luck for your continued success in the woods.

Went to the gun club today at 5:15 signed the log. Turned around and at the 50yrd line were 10 turkey right by the shooting benches. So I walk towards the benches slowly and watched the turkeys walk down range. I sat down on the bench and watch them for 15 minutes or so. There were 3 big Toms a few Jakes and some Hens. Wish I had the something to take pictures.

i could turkey hunt in my yard with a 9 iron! we have aprox 20 turkeys that come in to our yard every day some times 3 times a day to eat. my wife wont let me shoot any of them! she has the biggest heart of anyone i've ever known but that doesnt help with my hunting. they know they are safe with her around, they are at the point since she feeds them cracked corn that i can walk with in 10 feet of them, they look a little nervous but dont move. when throwing the corn down they will come running to with in 5' of ya. safe for now but some day she just might be at the store, and well, i'll be suprising her with making dinner that night.
