    Question IMR4198 used for H4198 "for" MiHec 308 hunt boolit? 3006 & 30-30 loads

I am just now getting to load the miHec 308 hunt boolit in a 30-06
and found a recipe in a Hodgdon manual ( 25th ed)
that calls out a 150gn Cast lead boolet, these are about 148gn with the big HP,
so a good start i had thought,

    Hodgdon manual ( 25th ed)
    Book calls out;

    150gn w gas check
    over a min. 20.0 H4198 @ 1620 vel.
    and Max. 24.0, H4198 @ 1879 vel.

I Have " IMR" 4198 and think its close to the same,
but have not loaded so long I can be sure to know what I am talking about truth be told....

I tried to Load one and find the powder fills to about 1/2 the 3006 case,,
and started to think about Dacron posts,,
In your opinion/s will I benefit using it? (Dacron) and if so what to start with?,,
Can I sub this IMR 4198 for the Hodgdon 4198?

and I wanted to start @ 22.0gn of the IMR 4198, (middle of road)
Lubed with white label BAC, cases trimmed, primed with Wolf primer and
these are sized to .309 as book calls out and hope to use
for a hunting boolit in a bolt action Provided it works,,

the next load we will load is also simmuler for a 30-30 but calls out 20.0gn to 25.0gn H4198
again we would hope to use our IMR4198

any advice? you can give to make a successful boolit for our hunt / field purposes?
Thank You for all and any advice you may give on this topic
and thanks for taking time to read and reply

They are VERY close but not identical. Start at the minimum load and work up. Should be fine. I do it all the time.

Had some concern about the cases half filled and have read about dacron helping to keep powder at the flash hole helping with ignition and even read of flash over? like powder lighting at wrong end? don't understand all that and want to be sorta safe and not have issues haha

There are no stupid questions. Some people use fillers and some don't. I do sometimes. I don't in my Mosin 91/30 with only 22.2 gr. Imr or h4198. I get good groups and good velocity (approx. 1825 fps) and not much recoil. That being said I DO use it in my 45-70 using 2400. Better consistency for me. Try some with and some without and you should find what YOUR gun likes. You will never know till you try.
