    30 cal 165 gr RD

Hi all. Has any one used the 30 cal 165 ranch dog boolit in there bolt guns. I'm interested in it but have heard that they have a feeding issue in a bolt gun. I have a ruger hawkeye 308 win. Any info would be great. What I would really like is to get 4 of them to make dummy loads with and try them. I would reimburse the postage. I don't know what any one would want to trade for four boolits. Thanks.
Dont pee down my back and tell me its raining.

I'm getting ready to try my NOE 165 RDs in my Kimber. PM your address and I'll send you a few to try.

Not sure why they wouldn't feed in a bolt gun.

They are long in body so unless you have a long throated rifle the base of the bullet might end up below the neck.

Been hitting the search engine for 165RD and 308 winchester with little success tonight. Guess most are shooting them in levers. I like it in my Rem141 and want to try it in the 308 and 300 Savage. Looks like it will be way deep in the 300 ! I have read conflicting thoughts on the gas chek below the neck. Have mostly shot cast with GC in 3030 so no issue , lots of PB in 308s . Not to hijack this thread , but is there a valid concern of dislodging the GC in the bore ? seems a remote possibility ,but I can see some loss of lube at ignition possibily.

300 savage has a very short neck, makes it a bit of a pain with cast in some ways. I load it with a RCBS 165 Sil bullet, shoots well.

I played with it a little today and decided the RD would probably not work well in it. It is a Rem 760 and the flat nose and short neck in that feed configuration looked like it would be hard to keep he bullet straight going into the chamber. On the 308 , Ithink it will feed fine ,just have to see for myself how it shoots with the chek below the neck.

I've used them in a Mauser 98 that was converted to 30-06 and, FWIW, in a M1 Garand (maybe 16 - 32 rounds).

    No problems in my experience.

I've shot a bunch in my 300blk rem700, never a feed problem. Even ran them in the AR.

I have used them in 30-06 bolt and 30-30, lever and bolt action. Shot hundreds with no feed problems. I will send you a hundred or two if you would like to try them out.
