    Crates for Hunting Gear.

I threw a few boxes together for tents and other camping gear.
Wifey said I went a little over board and plans on using them for blanket boxes.
Bzzt! Yea I don't think so blanket boxes need to be made out of 1" Aromatic Cedar and full though hand cut dovetails.
So anyway we now have 10 total with six not pictured that are larger for 16X20 tents plus two for tent stoves.
I'm still pondering handle options. Ropes just not my style.
Also deciding whether to go with hinges and latches or just counter sunk screws to hold the lids on.
As you can see the skids are spaced to get a hand truck under these four boxes.

Very very nice! They sure look great! They look like great coffee tables and not an item of storage.

    Duke,
Can I have some of your energy? Lyme disease is siphoning off all mine!

Anyhow you do great work on every project you tackle!:kissarse:
Is this your own design? I have a military box that is very similar to these but has the funky hasp har4dware on it. I accidentally dropped it out of my haymow and it took it very well!

Did I miss a thread about what your up too? Did you buy a dude ranch? Are you offering a guide service? I see your set up for multiple peoples and am just noseying.

A simple horse and cow ranch. That's all.
Nothing special but thanks. Their just some simple boxes.
Right now I'm down with food poisoning for the last few days which is typical for where I live considering they bring the chow in in non re frig. trucks.

Around here they put a little cedar on the inside of those and sell them as cedar chests. Big prices too. Wifey has a good eye for quality.

Yeah , around here they would bring a couple hundred each!

40 inches of rain a year should help.

Nice. Are you going to put some handles on them?

I like them very much. Duke is showing a great skill in mastery of woodworking. I have access to all the "free" lumber I need, especially Black Walnut; Black Cherry; Eastern Red Cedar; White Oak, and occasional White Pine. It's "free" because I help my neighbor with his Rube Goldberg Saw Mill. I suspect Duke might well have similar access. At any rate, excellent workmanship on Duke's part and with a little accessorizing such as handles and a hinged top would sell for $250 ~ $350 about anywhere.

Awesome work. Each time I make something nice like that I get friends and family coming out of the woodwork asking where's mine? I'll bet that's the case for your nice work as well!

Thank you sir. I can't recall anyone ever wanting to buy anything I have ever made at my present location.
I have no family other than a Shih Tzu. Their all gone. As far as Friends go I don't care to socialize with the locals due to most here have a chemical abuse problem.
Wifey has a couple GF's though.

Looks like you definately have more hobbies than the obvious hobby we all possess. Very nice craftsmanship there. Can tell by the end product you must enjoy it.

    Excellent work!

I'd be watching the hand truck operator, though I do suspect it will be you.
