41 mag lever gun?

How available are the marlin 41mags and what do they typically go for? I am wanting a lever gun for Christmas and I want it to be a matching caliber to one of my revolvers. .357 and .41

Whoaw...I see them every now and then usualy in the 800+ range. I'm a loyal and diehard 41 mag fan and have been drooling for some time over one.

Don't see a lot of them around and they are indeed $800.00 + for $400.00 gun somebody could do pretty good chambering a few in any appropriate lever gun. I have thought of having one the .44 mag lever guns done in .41 Mag.

You will not get a 41 mag lever for.under 650. My dad bought a couple and i want to say they were around 750 or so.

As a lad I killed 2. 160 pound dressed weight whitetails with a Marlin 41 and both were toes up before I recovered from the shot. My Dad sold the gun to a cousin ($250) and I did not even know it was for sale....dammmmmmmmmmmmit all anyway . Someday I will rectify that situation....just gonna take some $$ to do so.....the 357 I have will have to suffice for now. Personally I think they are worth a $700 price, but that is me.

You don't see them that often (unless you look in my gun safe). My first one is the most accurate of all my Marlin rifles, using a load recommended for the Marlin in Handloader Magazine many years ago. I've never fired the second or third ones I bought, but will shoot the second one some day, just to see if it equals my first one in accuracy. The third one is part of a limited edition Davidson's did several years ago, when they had Marlin make a run of 251 each of stainless, short barreled rifles in .357, .41, .44 and .45, with laminated stocks. I have the whole set, all with the same serial number, and one of these days I'll sell the whole set.

If you can find a .41 Magnum Marlin in blue steel, it will be from one of three runs that Marlin made. My first one is from the second run, and the second one is from the third run. I missed out on one from the first run, simply because I was going through a nasty divorce at the time and didn't have any money.

The Marlin reps at the SHOT Show told me Marlin would never make another run of .41 Magnum rifles. They said for every .41 they sold, they also sold 10 .357's, so the economy of production just wasn't there.

I am glad I my dad gave me one. I would NEVER sell it.

I wanted to convert two of my old barrel band straight grip monte Carlo stock 24" barrel guns . Leave one with a 24" pipe and the other with a 19" pipe like my Retro 444P . But from what I read they said for some reason the cartridge was harder to get to keep the gun together when it had barrel bands . And "if" the cartridge is more violent in recoil I can understand that as I from time to time have to replace the barrel band screws on my 444's . They did however say it was okay with the dovetail magazine rifles . I had gone so far as to find a chamber reamer , dies and had drawn up several molds on the Mountain Molds site !

Have a Marlin caliber .41 mag Cowboy that is a fine shooting tool. I watch most caliber .41 mag Marlins go through Gunbroker and few get listed for less than $1k or sell for less.
But ... Get yourself a Marlin 336 A , send it to JES and for $260 you have a caliber .41 - 444. That's what I did twice. But the first one I chambered for caliber 414 Supermag. That one will push a .411 265 grain GC to 1950 with a healthy dose of 1680. The .41 JES (alias .41 - 444 ) will add another 300 fps to that.
But that 1894 sure feels better in the hand than a 336.
I wonder how many would have to be ordered for Rossi to run some ?

6pt: The problem with pushing the 1895 Marlin action is it is really only good to about 43,000 psi. That's what a really hot loaded .45-70 does.

What does the .411 JDJ put out? If it is more than that it's a little too much for the action. I guess you can load it down, but you can load a .444 down too.

All the Marlin 1894 rifles in .41 Magnum were Micro-Groove barrels. It's the only .41 caliber broach Marlin had. At the time I asked the Marlin reps about a Ballard style rifle in .41 Magnum, they told me a new broach was in the neighborhood of $22,000.00, which seemed a little expensive to me. They said they'd have to sell a lot of .41 caliber rifles just to pay for the new broach, and it wasn't going to happen.

I bought my Marlin in 41 back in 1989 and love it. They used to catalog that one every 5 years. It seemed that every time they put it out there would be a comparison write up in Guns and Ammo. You know, comparing the .357, 41, and 44 mag. Anyway, G&A did a write up and I went to the gun store. The owner called a distributor and they had 3 so I ordered one. The next morning I thought I should buy 2 so we called the distributor. Yup, sold out.

The local gun store has had one on the shelf for quite a while but it has a curved lever like a 336 instead of straight like an 1894. Since I already have one (and dad doesn't want one any longer) I will pass. Another local gun store has a Ruger Blackhawk in 41 and I'm drooling. I'd really like a Vaquero in 41 but that will never happen The closest I could get was a Vaquero in 38-40. Maybe I should start saving my quarters for that RBH
