I just bought a Shiloh Sharps #1 in 45-70.
I paid $1500. The Rifle is unfired with presentation grade wood. I would rate it at 98%. Made in 1986. The man I bought it from advertised it as a wall hanger. Let me know if I did OK.

I'ld say you did well.
Long range rules, the rest drool.
Thanks Having a bit of buyers remorse.
I'll post images as soon as I get it from FFL dealer. Still being DROSED
You should sell it to me I will take good care of it for you!!!!
You made a fine purchase. Enjoy, and do not hesitate to shoot real black powder in it. You will be amazed at the accuracy, and clean up is super easy.
The ones made back then often had freebore.Check and see if your rifle does.It will make a difference in bullet selection.
Thanks for all the great info.
I have a bunch of 500 gr moulds I inherited RN, RNF and Silhouette moulds. I should have a nice fit for this rifle.
unless you have a defective rifle in some way ,,,I would say you did very well. look on the Shiloh web store and compare the rifle and extra stuff yours has and you will see that the mask should have been a part of your buying process...
I see these all the time going used for well over 2K and usually if there are extras like presentation wood ,,,they will often go for over 3K
if you want a fireplace hanger then I would allow you a modest improvement on your investment.
Shilohs of that era seem to have long chambers/or long freebore, I have one. Be prepared to load a 500gr bullet way out till it touches the rifling. Once you do that you'll start to get some good accuracy with a little fiddling around with powder charges and wads.
I've always loved the look of the 1874 Shiloh Sharps #3 Sporter in 45-90. I did a little pricing and added the options I wanted and it ended up being about $3250. No, I ain't bought it yet, just pricing.
