    odd bullet lube issue

so i was at the range today after loading up 50 rounds of 45acp using a NOE mold 230gr RN and after shooting 30 of them i notice on my target and backer board was chunks of lube as it a shotgun went off.

    picture,

i sized them about 2 weeks ago as i normally do and they were sitting on my desk until i loaded them today.

    Specs:
    230gr RN
bens red lube (but with blue instead of red'n'tacky otherwise the same recipe)
    4.5gr tightgroup.
    S&B SPP
    CCI aluminum cases.

i've shot using this modified ben's red before in my 9mm, 45acp, 357, and 500 mag without the same thing happening.

No worry. You must be shooting close range. It is OK. The lube is coming off the boolits like it should.
You need only look at accuracy.

good to know, i don't practice as much as i want to, so i'm using that as my excuse for a poor shot. i was shoot at 5 yards i believe.

yes, i reload the aluminum cases from CCI blazer as it's boxer primed. i usually get about 4 reloads out of it before the primer pockets loosen up to the point the primer falls out after a shot.

wow ... here they seem to be berdan primed one shot propositions ( but i havent bought any in 3-5 years ) with an odd size , most the reloadable cci cases i see are either brass or nickel plated from the lawman series ,i know hornady loads some steel cases but admit that's the first i heard of the aluminum cases ( thanks for the quick comeback btw ! )

I see this all the time using a chronograph. I had to put a plexiglass shield on my Competition Electronics chronograph to protect the read-out screen from lube splash.

it seemed to start to show up in the last year when our range brought alot of it in at a good price. i got all that i had from range pickup but i have seen the odd berdan primed 45's. i mostly see MFS 9mm steel cased stuff, but blazer also has aluminum 9mm which reloads the same number of times as the 45.

i have plenty of brass, but it's fun to mess around with the aluminum stuff, it resizes much easier and is alot lighter.

I have had lube fling on my Chrono also dump powder granules out of it. I have also reloaded aluminum cases only light loads though. But I do save the aluminum just in case, what can I say I'm a hoarder.
