Isn't California the only state where lead ww's are now illegal?

Nope - The socialist state of Washington has also outlawed them (according to my local tire dealer).

Problem is the tire dealers are pushing zinc and iron weights on their shops.

I told them as long as lead weights are still legal that's what I'll be buying.

Check out this site. All the states you'd expect to outlaw them, have.

I thought that was a federal law that went into effect? Maybe I am mistaken.,

No problem getting them in PA. We will eventually ban them. And even if we don't. California is the largest car market in the country so they drive, no pun intended, changes like this. The manufacturers will eventually stop making them because there will be no viable market to sell them in. All new cars are coming with steel weights because of this.

there is no scientific data to support a ban on either lead ww or lead ammo but why let facts get in the way of the tree huggers and eco-nuts?

Dragon I'm with you. Got a free 5 gallon tonight. I gave up sorting them because I only found a handful of steel and one zinc in over half the bucket. I just did a visual after my hand got tired of using dykes and sorted the stick ons out

At a GM dealership yesterday pricing a new set of wheels for the wife. The service manager was actually surprised to find out about the different makeup of weights now being used. He even was surprised to find out that stick ons were either steel or soft lead. I still got the pail of weights at the tire repair site in their shop that contained about 50 lbs. of "everything" for free.Robert
