SWEET! Closest to the original is the Accurate clone - 5 gang. But Tom makes one hell of a good mold!

What's not to love Eh. I have the #68 in a flat base 4 hole.
Got it about 5 years ago, it's Pre 1940 and marked as a George Hensly Ca.
cavities are prestine, with the handles--cost-- $40.00 I send the store a X-Mas card every year.

    Yummy!

I don't know if a 68 or clone is my destiny or not yet. On the one hand, I'm about to get into Bullseye matches, but on the other, the matches that count toward a Distinguished badge require hardball.

The design is excellent, mold quality top notch. Getting one for $40 is to
be dreamed of only these days, and even a few years back was a heck of
    a deal!

check out MiHec molds. I have the 6 cavity 200 grain H&G clone. I tried to buy a true H&G mold from a friend but he refused to sell. So I wrote MiHec and he fixed me up. I'm really pleased with it.

MP molds (Mihec) are true works of the machinists art. Top quality and he
uses the very best examples when doing clones. His clones are really
clones, not "sorta, kinda like" designs like some of Lee's. I am a fan of
Lee's molds, primarily for price/performance ratio - sure wish they were
smart enough to clone a few of the really great designs rather than make
their own similar designs which are usually OK but often just enough diff
to be a bit of a pain.

My Mihec 68 clone is great! It feeds even in a couple of problematic 1911's of friends and is causing some begging for reloaded ammo using them. Most of them get told I'll let them use the mould and casting gear and reloading equipment at my place. No takers yet. They don't want them bad enough yet.

My SIL has a Paraordnance P-12 that hangs up on hardball but feeds my MP H&G 68 boolits no sweat. This is a Jim-dandy of a boolit for 45 ACP pistols--I can't praise it enough.

Mtgun44 said it. I thought that my lee 200 swc was 'pretty close' to an h&g 68, and yeah compared to a 230 rn, or a 185 hp, it is pretty close.

But then i got the hg 68 clone from accurate molds

Markedly different in areas that matter, at least to my gun. My boolits look spot-on to those in the OP, as best i can see. Mine have a tapered shoulder from the front drive band to the nose.

Biggest difference compared to the lee is the nose width and length. I was able to seat the hg68 longer overall. This will hopefully eliminate loading failures.

Just putting this out there for those considering purchase of the lee "hg68"

Though i do really like a lot of lee molds i have

I own two H&G #68 8 cavity molds and they are not identical. They both shoot
well but are two different bullets.

    Distinguished Pistolshot Journey

My error: After looking at LAH's photos, my mold is H&G San Diego mold with a beveled base and 2 lube grooves casting at 220 grains with my alloy. My FiL's is H&G flat base with one lube groove casting at 185 grains with his alloy. His has a more truncated cone than mine, and mine looks like LAH's photo (but with 2 lube grooves). I have #50 on my mold but I do not have my FiL's mold #. Sorry for the misinformation.

The H&G #68 made the boolits for my father in law and brother in law, both distinguished pistol shots and my BiL earned the silver bowl in the CMP matches.

Now that mould is making the boolits for my other BiL and myself starting the Distinguished Pistol journey.

The EIC matches require jacketed bullets at this time, so the H&G #68 can be your go to mould for the 2700 matches preceding most of the EIC matches.

Have a great time on your journey.

In 87 when I just got off of active duty, I ordered a 8 cavity H&G 68. They wanted to know what type of gun and what alloy I would be pouring. They had different cherries to cut cavities that would be the correct size for your alloy and they would all be 200 grains. I have almost got it broken in. Was one of the smartest purchases I ever made.

I've got a Mihec clone on the way. I've wanted one for a while, and decided to get one for myself for my b-day this year.

You guys with the gang molds are making me feel inadequate with my 2 cavity. I was casting with my H&G 68 this afternoon. I have no idea how old it is, ( San Diego era ), but it still casts a very fine looking boolit. A joy to cast with.

Exceptional Vly, almost a shame to shoot them.

    Mines not a gang mold (post 14), it's only a 6 cav.

    Hi,
    Yea MiHec!
