Welcome, Ted! Congratulations taking the deer with a cast boolit. You've inspired me to take my Contender on my next hunt, also using a Keith type and 2400. It just works. Think I'll try it on a feral hog.

Son, I say son, your doing it all wrong son. Them Elmer boolits ain't no good at all. You gotta have at least 340 grains of lead with a 94% meplate to kill a white tail.

Seriously great job and great choice of gun and boolit. I can't prove it but I think that meat killed with a thumb cocking pistol an a boolit eats better.

Nicely done! As you probably know it's gonna be habit forming. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

I dont think theres a better feeling on the planet than shooting critters with homegrown boolits.

This year between 4 of us, we took 5 deer with 4 different calibers. All 1 shot kills. All with boolits I made myself.
It made for one heck of a memorable season.

You like to make an entrance! I'm still trying to kill my first whitetail period, but thanks to the folks on this forum it is going to be with a cast boolit when it happens!

Great job Ted and welcome aboard. I can share your pride as I've taken three Whitetails here in NE PA with my Ruger Security Six and 125gr J bullets using open sites. My Ruger SBH with 7.5" barrel absolutely loves the Lyman 429421 plain based bullet launched by 22.0gr of 2400 @ 1438fps. Never shot a deer with SBH but could fill up a small import pick-up with the groundhogs I've killed with it. The trigger on my SBH from the factory (1973 vintage) measures 2.25#. Never touched the trigger and that SBH is THE most accurate handgun I own. My walk about load for killing grounhogs is 8.0gr of Unique @ 909fps with the 429421 252gr boolit. Another phenominally accurate load is any cheap 240gr swaged lead bullet and 6.5gr of Red Dot for 819fps.

    Very nice, congrats Ted.

Tell me.....how far away was the shot and did she go down hard? I've never hunted with a pistol.
