03A3 target with cast from today

This group fired today with boolits supplied by our own obssd 1958. My understanding is a nominal wt. of 165 grs. With lube and a gascheck, they weigh 173 grs. on my scales. They won't feed from the left side of the magazine of my Springfield so it's a "two shooter". With a group like this, that's not a problem.

Awesome! You have better eyes than I have. I can't shoot irons that well anymore.

HA ! Chickened out on shooting the fifth shot huh.

Just kidding. I saw the big hole.

Great group! I may have to try again with IMR 4227.

"Caught up with"....by the sharp eyed yet, generous, man from Georgia. That is, indeed, a four shot group and I should have pointed that out. I had four cases left over after loading other combinations and decided to try magnum primers. Various powder wts. with standard primers have produced 1&1/2" to 2&1/2" groups. Experimenting with magnum primers appears to have had a positive result. We'll see what happens next time. Gremblins sometimes sit beside me at the bench.

That RD boolit is good in more than just the 30-30. I got the 3x3 PB/gc version of the mold. The plain base boolits are just tumble lubed and loaded in all kinds of 30s. Cheap and fun.

Nice! IMR4227! I've been loading 42.5 gr of IMR 4895 for my Rem 7400 and my new mold Lee 312-155-2R! I got three out five in a very nice clover leaf at 100 yards. Any idea how fast your pushing those? I'm running mine at 2275 fps!

Gnut 45/454, no more than 1800 fps. That's based on notes from the past 6 mos. or so using standard primers. Have not chronographed these with magnum primers but would not expect much difference. That's nice going with your 7400. Any indication of leading at that velocity? I've never used 4895 but I have become interested in it recently. Bare shelves around here tell me my interest is ill-timed.
