    gp 100 scope mount.

I have a 357 gp 100 ruger. I bought the scope mount for it when i got the gun to put a red dot on it. worked fairly well for the red dot.

but when i put a scope on i had problems with the screws working loose that held the base on.

thought about using loctite 242 blue (the one for breaking loose with handtools). just afraid to do that . anybody had similiar problems with this mount and how did you fix it.

A freind of mine had the same problem
He ended up drilling out the holes and using a larger size cap screw and a locking nuts
He also got a extra front sight
He drilled a hole thru the mount and front sight
He then used a cap screw there also

He never had a problem after that

But IMO if he would have shot sain loads , he might not have needed to

His starting loads , were max with a small rifle primer

thanks john. I shoot typically about a grain and a half under. I think i will leave this gun the way the factory made it and shoot the irons.

always thought it was a pretty cheasy mount design.

BRU, what length barrel on your GP? What base are you using? I have a 6" GP100 and use the full length weaver base made by B-square with a red dot. You do have to remove the sights to put it on. I haven't had it long and haven't shot any heavy loads in it yet, but it seems to be a pretty solid setup.
As far as blue loc-tite, I have used it on a number of mounts, screws, etc. with good results. No problem breaking them loose with a screwdriver when I needed to change something.

thinking about getting a hunter model SBH in .41 magnum and selling the .357 off

The Hunter model SBH in 41 Mag is a very accurate gun, you'll like it if you get one.

according to the ruger website you can't get a 41 in a hunter anymore.
