    Needing info

I have an old CVA 45 cal Kentucky long rifle.
I want to shoot but but haven't in many years.
Need info on patch size with a 440 round ball.
I hunted with Buffalo bullet minnie balls and it was very accurate at 100 yards.
    thanks
    guys and gals

I use a .445 ball and a 0.015 cotton bed ticking patch with 65 grains of fff in a Green River barrel. I shoot mostly targets and get good accuracy to 75 yards.

Most people seem to use between 15 and 18 thous. It's really a try and see kind of thing. I have a couple and I use if I remember right 15 thous. It usually will still shoot good even with a patch that isn't super tight, just depends on what you are looking for. Hunters may start off with a tight patch for the first shot and have a looser one for a followup or just stick with the looser one.
    Aim small, miss small!
