I had a young 19 year old coed join my college class this semester who indicated her mother was 19 when she also took my class 20 years ago. The bad part is her grandmother took my class 40 years ago !

Getting older makes me feel older.

Change happens. We can either embrace it and cope or we can get old and bitter. I hate old and bitter.

Only 62 here. I tell 'em at work, "I'm NOT older than dirt, but I remember when it was still on the pallet.

    STOP THAT

Yesterday I was going thru a box of my OLD STUFF and found a fold out postcard of the BUDWEISER team. I picked it up at a show here many years ago. On the back it said place a THREE CENT STAMP HERE.

Who else can remember when the U S Post Office could deliver a 12" X 4 1/2 " card across the country for .03 and turn a profit.

I must be getting REALLY old but don't need to be reminded. I seem to be doing a good job all by myself thank you

Yup, like finding a box of factory 32-40 in your stuff and seeing the original price was $5.65 which was a lot when minimum wage was still $1.65 or thereabouts.

Post cards used to be "Penny Post Cards", and that included the card and postage. Of course the penny was real copper with wheat heads on the reverse.
I spent many a Sat. at the moves, bought a hot dog, drink and a box of corn, and still had change from my quarter.

    Really!!

In my mind I can still see the Ice man delivering ice to an apartment building in south Seattle near Sicks Stadium. With his horse drawn wagon. A lot of it was carried up three flights of stairs.
My sister, born in 1921 thinks she remembers ice cost a dime then.

No one locked their doors and he walked right in and put the block of ice in the icebox. You left the money on the icebox. No contract --- No dime --- no ice.

A dimes worth of penny candy was enough to make you sick.
A bottle of Coke was a nickel.

Penny candy store on the corner, cooler full of bottled Pepsi with the opener on the side. Please put the bottle back in the "wooden" case. Man, a quarter went a long way in that place.

You guys make me jealous, those sound like great times. I'm a bit ashamed of the world I'm living in right now. So many people being taken advantage of and so many people taking advantage of everything.

Man, it's a wonder I have any teeth at all, considering how many of those penny jaw breakers I consumed as a kid. Ten cent bottled Pepsis and five cent Milky Way bars ruined my appetite for many a supper.

As for entertainment, nothing beat penny boxes of matches and punks and five cent 16 count packs of fire crackers. And let's not forget how many BBs you could get for a nickel. That was a day's worth of shootin' right there.

My friends and I would a quarter size chunk of dry ice for a nickel from the ice cream man. You put that in a mayo jar about half full of water, screw the top on tight and we had explosives!

Sat done with some other techs at work, about 7 of us at the table. One guys says " Today is my birthday, 19 years old." . Went around the table and I was 30 years older than the next oldest guy.

I need to quit and shoot more.

I'm getting more selective about the brass I'm willing to bend over and pick up when scavenging at the range. 9mm and .40 S&W don't make the cut any more, unless they're laying beside something I really want.
