Can you give us a list of the powders you do have access to? That might help members in offering suggestions.

    powders for 308

    hello,

you can do a search on this site and come up with many powders people use.

    i use red dot....10 to 14 grains.

    i like 16 grains of 2400.

i also use 10 grains of unique.

the above are mostly plinking loads.

for a hunting load i have used 19 grains 4759, and have taken deer with it at less than 100 yards, however i think i would use it out to 125 by stepping up the load to 21 grains.

ken waters "pet loads" book would give you many options also, and lymans cast bullet books as well.

someone else will probably chime in with what they use also.

    good luck !

Have you checked out or have access to ADI Powders

    ht tp://www.adi-powders.com.au/handloaders-guide/

Some I repeat some of the powders are the same or very close to Hodgdon / IMR powders

Look in the Hodgdons MSDS some are made by ADI

    ht tp://www.hodgdon.com/

wauw and miauw, my casting weight is 165 to 167 gr heat treatet and water droped ww.
the desired velocity rance??? some where in the 1800fps.. i have had no leading in the 2200fps.

The powders that are avilibel....? i have to ask them if they have this or that, they wont give any advice for cb loads.
I think they just want to sell jacket bullets
But he... this is learning time, and its well spend.
with each powder that i try i am getting closer to a sub moa, as a bonus, i think

    Thanks for all your advice

If all you can get are ADI (Hodgdon) powders then I'd suggest H4227 or H4198SC with a dacron filler with that weight bullet for velocities around 1800 fps.

Vectan TU2000 and Vihtaviouri N130 are a couple of European made powders that are similar in burn rate to IMR or H4198. You can't simply use the same charge with a similar burning powder. You should start lower and work up to make sure you don't produce an overload.

Parker: He doesn't shoot there, but lives near Utrecht in Issjelstein(Sp?), I think it is very difficult to shoot or own guns there. He loves to come to Canada to shoot and hunt here...

There is a meeting at Bisley in a few weeks (the weekend of the 20th and 21st October) for the Trafalgar shoot. There will be some stands in the Pavillion selling guns and reloading components. Westlander usually turns up and sells Accurate powders as he imports it to the UK.
I know it's a long way to go but the weekend's shooting could be fun.
Have a look at the UK's NRA site for more information.
BTW I have a stand there selling cast boolits.

We have here very strikt laws for gun ownership.
it takes one year and a half to ASK for a permit, if you have done what you have must, then the goverment(police), will give you a permit for one gun!!!!(only .22 rimfire)
When one year after that you can buy some other guns, with the max of ........ yes 5!!!!
the max that is allowed is 454 as a regular caliber, everything larger as .498 is forbidden.
We had a range where we could shoot 500 to 1500 yards that one is closed, for us.
We can only shoot a maximum distance of 300 yards.
Even hobby rockets are under strikt lisence.
If you ask for any given caliber cardrige that is not suited for your gun, let say 30m1 cases for swaging to make 308 bullits, then the 30m1 cases must be on your permint.........
But if you are a good boy and a nice puppy(they dont know anything( then its possibel to shoot and to own guns.
So this are the main rules for gun ownership in the netherlands.

ps its ijselstein near utrecht(: i live more by the city of alkmaar
    small world aint it???
