If you just want to plink the Lyman 311008 is a good one.Up to 100 yards it shoots pretty darn well.
Depending on your final use, the #311008 or the #311410 might suit your needs. Prior to the advent of the gas check, Ideal made zillions of different .30 caliber moulds that differed basically in just weight and size of the base band. Many of the older Krag bullet designs were plainbase. Most of those plainbase heavy .30's were discontinued back in the late 70's but the more common ones still turn up on eBay with some regularity.
Of course, if youre so inclined, you can always turn the gas check heel off of a new mould.
I have been interested in shooting plain based bullets in .30 cal. rifles for some time. I have some factory designs but about 2 yrs. ago I chose to make a plain based bullet out of a factory gas checked design.
I've got some money in this mold ! ! , but I dont' regret a penny of it.
If you take out the " 2 O'clock round " from the group below( and that round is most likely me..not the rifle ) ....this SAECO # 315 plain base is basically shooting in 1 hole at 50 yards. Shot with my Ruger # 1, 30-06.
Lubed with Ben's RED
I've also sized some 3115" and tumble lubed them with Lee Liquid Alox:
